Tyree Mayo

Smithfield-Selma High School hired Tyree Mayo as the head coach of their boys basketball program in July 2020. Mayo, a native of Mebane, North Carolina is a graduate of Eastern Alamance High School. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and has been an educator for twenty years. Mayo spent the last three years as an assistant for the Farmville Central High School varsity team in Farmville, North Carolina. Before teaching and coaching in Farmville, he spent six years as an assistant and the head coach of the JV program at Hillside High School in Durham, North Carolina. During Mayo’s tenure at Farmville Central the program won 93% of their games. This winning percentage includes three regular season conference titles, three tournament conference titles, and two NCHSAA 2-A State Championships. Mayo has been married to Bobbi Brown-Mayo for seventeen years. They have four children, two daughters and two sons.
