Deanna Morris

Coach Morris has been teaching for 28 years.  She has been coaching for 30 years.  She currently coaches Indoor Track and Spring Track for Smithfield-Selma High School and is our Fellowship Christian Athletes (FCA) Sponsor.

Coach Morris received her Bachelor of Science in Health and PE at Pembroke State University and completed her Masters in Physical Education and Sports Administration at University of North Carolina at Pembroke.   Coach Morris was also a member of the XC team at Pembroke State University. Coach Morris is an Accredited Interscholastic Coach with NFHS and is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator with NIAAA. 

Coach Morris is the President of NCSHAPE a state association that provides professional development for Health, Dance and PE Teachers, Coaches and Athletic Directors, advocates for our Professional Members to provide ethical and beneficial practices for our students and athletes.  Coach Morris serves on the staff for NC Athletic Director’s Association assisting in teaching legal courses as well as Emergency Management of Interscholastic Activities.  

Outside of school Coach Morris enjoys spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, camping, kayaking, and boating with her husband, refinishing/repurposing furniture, and spending time with her black Lab, Tabor.
