NO FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS THIS WEEK

Hurricane Matthew has forced all area sporting events scheduled the rest of this week to be postponed. Gov. Nikki Haley announced Tuesday that all Charleston, Dorchester and Berkeley county schools were among those closed Wednesday through Friday. In turn, there will be no high school athletic events during that time. The S.C. High School League announced Wednesday the addition of Week 11 to accommodate teams affected by Hurricane Matthew. Coastal Christian’s SCISA region game against Charleston Collegiate has been rescheduled for Monday, kickoff at 4:30 p.m. Wando’s region game against Summerville was rescheduled for Thursday, but that was before Tuesday’s decision to close schools the rest of the week. An announcement of the game’s new day and time is expected on Wednesday. The Citadel has moved Saturday’s home game against North Greenville to Thursday in Tigerville, S.C. The SCHSL state championship swim meet has been rescheduled for Oct. 14-15 at USC’s Carolina Natatorium in Columbia.
