4A STATE BASEBALL ROUND UP

In Lakewood, Pueblo West remains in command of the Class 4A Championship Series. The Cyclones downed Windsor 3-1 on Saturday at All-Star Park and have yet to lose in the double-elimination format. They will face Valor Christian, which beat Erie 6-3. The Eagles will have to handle the Cyclones twice Sunday to win the title. Pueblo West, now 21-4, has won eight games in a row. Valor Christian, also 21-4, used a five-run fourth inning to win it. Luke Bozarth and Erik Ohman each had two RBIs. Bozarth had a double and Ohman a triple. Luke Ziegler earned the victory. Erie finished 16-9. Saturday in Greeley, University knocked off Faith Christian, which had been undefeated in the 3A Championship Series, to force two more games Sunday at Butch Butler Field. The Bulldogs got past the Eagles 4-2 in eight innings. They will take on Manitou Springs at 10 a.m. The winner will meet Faith Christian at 12:30 p.m. University advanced on a two-run homer in the top of the eighth by Jake Spence. University is 20-5. Manitou Springs improved to 16-9 with a 10-3 decision of Kent Denver. The Sun Devils, in finishing 15-9, had a strong season as longtime football coach Scott Yates took over the program.
